Denny Greenwell's K&B Stallion powered combat wing sits
demolished after a hard impact into the ground. I don't recall
exactly what happened (and my logbook doesn't have an entry for this
day), but I think something happened to the controls or the elevator.
The demolished wing is the outside wing. Notice the leading edge
poking up at about a 45-degree angle. A piece of the leading edge was
buried several inches into the turf at McIntyre Field. Notice the
three-bladed prop. Denny seemed to like those, he ran them a lot.
This plane was not rebuilt. |
